On Keeping a Deck

The trouble was never the reading. The trouble was the doorway — the long minute at the desk deciding what, which is the minute the whole evening quietly leaks out of. So I made a deck, and let the deck decide.

This is the first piece, and it exists mostly to prove the road from a drawn card to a published page is short.1 Delete it when there’s something truer to put here.
